Our Tax-Aide program, sponsored by the AARP Foundation is always looking for volunteers, especially if they have done their own taxes or for others. Note that although volunteers are recruited under AARP we do taxes for all ages and you do not have to belong to AARP to volunteer. We provide comprehensive self-paced online training and volunteers are certified by the IRS. If you think you may be interested in exploring opportunities, you can register with AARP at this site: https://www.aarp.org/money/taxes/aarp_taxaide/.
Client Facilitator - The Client Facilitator(CF) works with the Local Coordinator/Shift Coordinator, performs check-in duties, provides an important first contact to the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program for taxpayers and manages taxpayers’ initial activities. Generally does not do taxes.
Scheduler - The Scheduler will work with a team to schedule appointments for taxpayers from emails on our appointment request system. This is a volunteer position working from home on your computer.
Tax Preparation Counselor - Counselors, under the direction of the Local Coordinator or Shift Coordinator, provide tax assistance and preparation service to taxpayers.
Since the pandemic Lane County has lost the following Tax-Aide sites: Campbell Community Center, Junction City, Cottage Grove, and Florence. These sites had to close because we lacked the volunteers to assist you, the taxpayer. We would love to reopen these sites and help more individuals with their taxes. The only way we can do this, is with your help.
